We’ll refresh some of the core concepts before diving deep into organizational uses: how LLMs work, why they sometimes mislead, smart ethical oversight and governance, and, of course, engineering the perfect context to get results. We’ll dive into case studies on AI in governance and AI in operations, from grant workflows and HR automation to secure AI-powered data management. With real-world examples, practical frameworks, and a clear-eyed look at the risks and opportunities, you’ll leave ready to lead your organization into an AI-enabled future.

  • Alberta Living Wage

    As conversations around economic justice and workforce equity gain momentum, nonprofits are increasingly grappling with the implications of the living wage—for their employees, their budgets, and their missions. This interactive workshop explores what a living wage truly means, how it differs from minimum wage, and why it's becoming a standard of ethical employment. Participants learn how paying a living wage can improve employee retention, organizational culture, and service delivery - while also confronting the financial and operational challenges it may pose.  This session will equip you with the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about wage practices that align with your values and sustainability goals.

    A key component of financial sustainability is the commitment of board and staff to financial management that includes timely review of financial reports and advance planning. One way that the board and staff plan for income and expenses in the future is by creating a budget. Learn the basics of budgeting in this session.

    Strong boards create strong organizations. This session will highlight practical ways boards can foster collaboration and trust across board, staff, and volunteers. Participants will learn how boards can support healthy team dynamics, clarify roles, and build effective working relationships that strengthen the organization’s overall impact.

    This session will focus on what board members need to know about cybersecurity from a leadership perspective. The talk will touch on the most common attacks against organizations, mitigation strategies, and resources available for crafting policies including industry standards to protect your organization.
